The new model of Intel Pentium 4 CPU to be
launched with an external frequency of 533MHz has jumped to
a new stage compared with the 400MHz external frequency processor.
Its bandwidth has been upgraded to 4.2G from 3.2G. It is expected
that the FSB 533MHz will become the mainstream of Pentium
4 CPU in the future. Legend QDI has made quick moves and developed
a number of new product lines which will be available in the
European market at the end of May. There are many models of
Intel chipset product series including PlatiniX
2D/533, PlatiniX
2E and PlatiniX
8. These few new models are of different designs to
meet different consumers' needs.
PlatiniX 2D/533 is the upgraded version of Legend QDI's
PlatiniX 2D-A (Intel 845D/ICH2), which has won many prizes
both home and abroad. It uses the Intel 845E /ICH2 chipset,
supporting the Socket 478 Pentium 4 processor of over 2G and
the DDR memory of as much as 2G. It is an integration of many
innovative technologies, including LOGOEASY
II, RECOVERYEASY
II, STEPEASY
II, SPEEDEASY
II, HARDWARE DOCTOR and the CPU Triple Protection
of CPU. PlatiniX 2D/533 supports the 533MHz external frequency
while PlatiniX 2D does not, which is the biggest difference
between the two.
PlatiniX 2E is the mainboard of the latest design, using
the Intel 845E/ICH4 chipset and supporting the 533MHz external
frequency, with the expansion capability of ATX/6PCI/1AGP/1CNR.
Since ICH4 supports USB2.0 standard, enduser can use 2 USB2.0
ports onboard (with 4 extra headers) to connect to a number
of peripherals at the same time, including the game keyboard,
camera, printer and scanner. Thus the capacity for connecting
the peripherals is greatly enhanced. This will satisfy the
consumers' need for high-quality video and audio. Compared
with USB1.1, USB2.0 is 6 times faster in disk burning, 11
times faster in data backup and 0.5 time faster in all-dynamic
video frequency. The bus speed of USB2.0 is 40 times the speed
of USB1.1, reaching 480Mbps, which exceeds the IEEE 1394a
standard. Also, the hub of USB2.0 supports the peripherals
of USB1.1 and has good downward compatibility.
Besides, PlatiniX 2E-6A Mainboard, which supports 5.1 Dolby
surround sound channel, is of leading edge in sound effect
processing. 18/20-bit Codec makes the sound clearer and supports
the 6 surround sound channel 3D stereo (front: right/left;
back: right/left; center/bass). The S/PDIF optic fiber output
interface supports the Dolby Digital AC-3 sound effect. We
can imagine that the sound effect we get with the PlatiniX
2E-6A mainboard is remarkable. In addition, the LAN interface
and drive of PlatiniX 2E supports the 10/100Mbps Ethernet,
which is compatible with that supported by ICH2. With the
significant increase of bandwidth of the I845E chipset and
the 2G-bandwidth DDR memory, the whole Pentium 4 system's
performance will be improved remarkably.
PlatiniX 2E mainboard is bundled with the Intel IAA software
which will greatly increase the I/O handling capacity of the
floppy disk, optimize the floppy disk performance, support
the hard drive of 137GB or above by means of 48-bit LAB partitioning
mode and ensure its compatibility with most hardware/software
and the reliability.
PlatiniX 8 mainboard uses Intel 845G/ICH4 chipset, supporting
533MHz external frequency and DDR200/266 memory. Like PlatiniX
2E, PlatiniX 8 mainboard also has 2 USB2.0 ports onboard (with
4 extra headers) and ATX/6PCI/1AGP expansion capability. It
also suports ATA100 IDE hard disk transfer standard. The most
striking feature of PlatiniX 8 is that it integrates Intel
Extreme graphics and provides an AGP slot for the users to
upgrade . Intel Extreme graphics card is applicable to Windows
XP platform. It supports video replay, 3D processing function,
high-resolution displays such as analog display and data display,
and synchronous two-screen display. With 256-bit internal
data transfer, the effect of dynamic video and 3D video become
more excellent. This integrated graphics' performance is similar
to Geforce 2 MX400's. The AGP slot is not only for upgrade
of the display card in the future but also for ADD card to
support TV-OUT and liquid crystal digital display. The freedom
of using the graphics card or AGP slot gives the consumers
more convenience.
Like the PlatiniX 2D/533 Mainboard, PlatiniX 2E and PlatiniX
8 are also equipped with Legend QDI's latest innovations including:
LOGOEASY II, RECOVERYEASY II, STEPEASY II, SPEEDEASY II, HARDWARE
DOCTOR and the CPU triple protection of CPU. PlatiniX 2E and
PlatiniX 8 have become a vital new force in the high-end market
for their powerful video and audio performance, support of
533MHz external frequency and unique innovative technologies.
They are designed to be high price-performance products for
supporting USB2.0.
Legend QDI's full Intel series products will be upgraded
to support 533MHz FSB. SiS chipset series including Superb
4/355 and Superb 4E will also be launched to the European
market in succession. QDI will provide the great majority
of consumers with numerous future-oriented mainboards of different
features.
