Legend-QDI
PlatiniX 2S-AR has achieved a testing award from the magazine
PC no. 1 in France
|
QDI launch a mainboard based on the Intel¡¯s i845DDR
chipset. Like its name tells us, this chipset¡¯s
main feature is the ability to manage DDR SDRAM memory. The
QDI PlatiniX 2S-AR is design for Pentium 4 using socket 478.
The mainboard¡¯s design doesn¡¯t suffer
of any inconsistency, the processor is well released, and the
various elements are easy access and clearly indicated on the
board itself. The sound part is assured by an integrated circuit,
using AC¡¯97 2.1 specifications. The restitution
of game¡¯s environments appears of good quality.
It will be well on possible to disable this sound circuit on
the board if you would have decided to choose top of range sound
card. In the field of the connector possibility, one finds an
AGP 2x/4x slot, 5 PCI slots, 1 CNR and 4 ports USB including
two on a square (optional). With regard to the overclocking,
the StepEasy software is provided to make it possible to the
more beginner to carry out your first steps in the world of
the overclocking, without taking too much risk. A good board
as a whole, it is addressed to all those which wish to launch
out in the Pentium 4 + DDR adventure. The only negative point
of this board is the number of DIMM connector. Indeed it will
be liable for you to connect only two memory modules, which
seems a little limited.
Opinion
The PlatiniX 2S-AR thus proves to be a very good board, stable
and powerful. However, its price does not derogate from the
rule, and remains relatively high. What is the case of many
mainboards for Pentium 4. Let us note that this board is provided
with a IDE 0/1 RAID controller, but there is a version without
Raid, for those which in one not the utility, whose price is
lower. |
