Legend QDI Takes
a Drastic Leap in Its Overall Productivity
Legend QDI new SMT production line at its Huiyang
manufacturing base became officially operative on 23rd October with
current operations running in satisfactory conditions. Meanwhile,
another set of multi-functional machines is under testing for production
use very shortly. This symbolizes a further enhancement in Legend
QDI overall production capacity.
With a total area of 30,000 sq m, the new manufacturing
base at Huiyang had its official inauguration just this April. Currently
equipped with seven advanced automatic production lines, the new
plant basically adopts the 2+1 production mode, ie. The combination
of two sets of high speed SMT machines and one set of multi-functional
SMT machines. This achieves a monthly production capacity of over
300,000 motherboards and eliminates the need for cleansing after
the mounting process.
With continuous growth achieved at a pace parallel
to that of Legend Computer, Legend QDI motherboards have seen encouraging
signs in its market demand. The round-the-clock operation of the
production base can hardly meet the escalating volume of purchase
orders. Sub-contracting of production is still necessary as a result.
Aimed at relieving the production pressure as well as meeting the
rapid growth in market demand, a strategic decision was reached
in early September for the introduction of a new production line
on which operations became effective after successful installation
on 20th October. Normal production commenced on 23rd
October, with a daily production capacity of 700 pieces and can
reach as high as 20,000 pieces per month.
Legend QDI is also planning the installation of
another set of high-speed SMT machines at its Huiyang manufacturing
base to better utilize the full capacity of the recently installed
production line. In due time, the new production line can fetch
a monthly production capacity of more than 45,000 pieces.
As a commitment to live up to its status as a world-class
motherboard manufacturer, Legend QDI has taken up the lead in the
industry for environmental preservation by passing the official
audit by the Audit Centre of China National Environmental Protection
Bureau on its ISO14000 environmental management system on 16th November.
A dual ISO14001 certificate, at both the national and international
level, is due to be issued to the company by the China National
Environmental Protection Bureau and the United Kingdom Accreditation
Service (UKAS) at the end of the year.
