With the advent of Year 2001, the birth of DDR
has brought hope to break through the system memory bandwidth "bottleneck".
It is an indisputable fact that DDR has become the new standard
in the computer industry and has tended to replace SDRAM. The striking
feature of DDR (Double Data Rate) is that it can transmit data along
both the rising edge and the falling edge of the system clock whereas
SDRAM can only transmit data along the rising edge. The supply voltage
of DDR is 2.5V versus that of SDRAM 3.3V. Additionally, DDR performs
much better than SDRAM in CAS delay. So one after the other, all
the brand-name chip manufacturers including AMD, VIA, etc have tried
to recommend chipsets that support DDR system memory. Faced with
such an encouraging situation, Legend QDI has grasped the Heaven
sent opportunity to develop numerous designs of DDR mainboard products.
Now let's have a good look at the features of Legend A12 Mainboard,
unique of its own.
The A12 Mainboard is designed specific to the
high-end users in the distribution markets. With VIA8633 as its
north bridge and VT8233 as its south bridge, this mainboard uses
VIA APPOLLO PRO266 chipset to support P3, Celeron platform and ATA100
hard disk port and provide 6 USB ports. Three DDR slots are set
in the board supporting PC200 and PC266 memory with the through
out capacity of 3GB.
A12 uses the most state-of-the-art V-LINK bus
design at present and thus builds a high-speed connect channel between
the north bridge and south bridge. In the 4X work module, the bandwidth
of A12 is 266MB/sec, which is twice that of the PCI bus. This increases
the I/O handling capacity of the system.
The A12 Mainboard is equipped with ACR (Advance
COMMUNICATION RISER) slot, adopting 120pin reversed PCI-slot form.
This interface provides a number of functions, including ethernet,
home networking, xDSL and wireless connection, supporting HOME PNA
card, integrated USB port and integrated EEPROM. The AMR interface
and PIN definition used at the front side make this interface compatible
with AMR interface, which gives the users more free space.
In addition, A12 Mainboard provides an AGP PRO
slot. This design will provide larger power supply support and a
more ideal graphics effect for the high-end DIYs. Meanwhile the
AGP PRO slot can be compatible with ordinary AGP slot, so for those
users who do not want to upgrade their graphics card for the time
being, the A12 Mainboard can not only meet your present demands
but also make preparations for your future upgrade ahead of time.
Following the development of A12, Legend QDI Mainboard
are planning to recommend A12 serial products of many designs, including
A12-C with the on-board CT5880 audio card, A12-A with the AC'97
audio card and A12-L with the on-board ethernet access chip, or
in other words, with LAN. To satisfy customers' various demands,
Legend QDI has recommended many designs. We believe you will find
your favorite among them.
The BootEasy, Logo-Easy, RecoveryEasy, ManageEasy,
Bios-Easy and SpeedEasy in the design of A12 Mainboard are all Legend's
own innovative technologies, which provide you an easier and quicker
operation interface.
