Legend QDI PlatiniX
4 Mainboard Keeps You in the Lead in Performance Benchmarking Contest
In the fourth quarter of last year, INTEL formally
released its long-fermented new generation processor Pentiumâ
4 , which is another great work of Intel and a powerful weapon in
the specification battle of vital importance. Intel will vigorously
recommend Pentiumâ 4 this year. It is expected that Pentiumâ
4 processor will become the main stream of mid-range and high-end
desktop computer platforms on the market and replace the now prevalent
Pentiumâ III. The emergence of Pentiumâ 4 will keep Intel
in the lead in performance benchmarking contest.
Pentiumâ 4 improves the CPU operating frequency
by a large margin and betters the performance, reflecting the huge
potential of Pentiumâ 4 new architecture. As the new generation
IA32 processor, Pentiumâ 4 has not used P6 architecture, instead,
it has adopted the new architecture of NETBURST. The Streaming SIMD
Extensions 2 and Hyper Pipelined Technology enhances the CPU performance
by a large margin. The microcode-traced cache improves the efficiency
of macro-program execution. The transmitting capacity of the front
side bus can reach 400MHz.
The Intel 850 chipset that supports Pentiumâ
4 adopts the memory structure of RDRAM. The dual-channel RDRAM memory
bus bandwidth can reach the theoretical peak value of 3.2G/sec,
avoiding data blocking successfully and facilitating the acquisition
of higher data transmitting speed. Compared with 1GB/sec-bandwidth
of PC133 SDRAM and 2GB/sec-bandwidth of PC266 DDR, RDRAM has really
made a big stride forward.
Legend QDI has designed PlatiniXâ 4 mainboard
to match the Intel Pentiumâ 4 processor. This mainboard is
based on Intel 850 chipset with its south bridge using ICH2. The
entire board is an ATX 6-layer board, providing 4 USB ports, supporting
ATA100, AGP4X and five PCI slots. There is one CNR slot on the board,
supporting the expansion of software sound and software Modem and
even upgrading to six-channels sound effect on the strength of CNR.
PlatiniX 4-A has AC97 sound effect on board while PlatiniX
4-L has ethernet (LAN) port on board. PlatiniX 4 board has four
RIMM slots. It needs to be remembered that RIMM slot 1 and 3 form
a channel while 2 and 4 form another. They together constitute the
dule-channel RDRAM. For the dual-channel RDRAM, insertion of one
channel is not enough. The two channels need to work simultaneously.
Attention should be paid that when one RDRAM memory bank is inserted
in one of the slots in a channel, the other slot can not be empty.
C-RIMM memory module can be inserted to fill the vacancy.
The Pentiumâ 4 processor consumes more current
than Pentiumâ III. In order to guarantee a sufficient power
supply support and a stable system, Legend QDI PlatiniX 4 Mainboard
designs a powerful three-phase power supply system. Besides the
powerful power source support for CPU, separate power supply systems
are designed for AGP4X and STR. This on the one hand guarantees
the normal load and reduces mutual interference on the other.
In addition, four enhanced diagnostic LEDs are
designed on the PlatiniX 4 mainboard. When there is any problem,
the enhanced diagnostic LEDs will diagnose the case automatically
and display the result in different colors so that the users can
suit the remedy to the case.
On the PlatiniX 4 mainboard, Legend QDIs
innovation technologies are designed, including the just-released
BootEasy, BIOS-ProtectEasy, SpeedEasy, ManageEasy and LogoEasy,
providing a perfect high-end platform for the users.
