Legend QDI Mainboard Recommends
SX5EP, Attaining Perfection
The Legend 815EP chipset mainboard SX5EP, faced
with the high-end customers in the distribution markets, is attaining
perfection and functionally powerful in design. In particular,
the designs of Legend innovative technology StepEasy and CPU adjustable
core voltage have quenched DIYs thirst for excitement this time.
To satisfy the high-end customers, SX5EP is
fitted with 815EP chipset but has removed the integrated graphic
function. However, it makes AGP 4X slot available so that the
users can select high-grade display cards. SX5EP Mainboard with
COM1 and COM2 on board is in compliance with the standards of
this industry and easier to use. It is the upgraded mainboard
of SX2EP.
To sum up the features of SX5EP, we can go from
the following aspects. Firstly, SX5EP is the first to use the
latest innovative technology StepEasy, which is another one of
Legend leading and innovative technologies three months after
releasing BootEasy at COMDEX last November. It makes the stepless
frequency change of the mainboard possible and breaks the fetters
of FSB (outer frequency) jumping only from 66MHz to 100MHz then
to 133MHz. Now in contrast, every 1MHz CPU core frequency can
choose to jump frequency. For example, CPU with 800MHz can jump
to 801MHz, 802MHz, 803MHz, etc. This has improved the applicability
of DIYs system resource configuration, brought the system capability
into full play and tapped the CPU's potential to the utmost. SX5EP
seems to have added two wings to DIYs, thus rendering them a larger
space.
Secondly, the core voltage of SX5EP is adjustable.
Frequency overclocking lovers, in the case of specified voltage,
can use StepEasy to a certain limit of frequency overclocking.
But for super fanciers, it is not to their heart content. The
adjustable CPU core voltage of SX5EP can help you challenge the
maximal limit and feel the pleasure of conquering. (But I must
warn you that for the sake of your CPU safety, you had better
take care.)
Thirdly, four diagnostic LEDs are designed at
the back panel of SX5EP Mainboard. This design is specific to
DIY. When something is wrong with your PC, you, as a user, should
not hurry to open the cabinet and conduct complicated inspections.
Instead, you should see where the problems lie. Are they in CPU
or in internal memory, or elsewhere? The diagnostic LEDs will
tell you exactly where the problems are. What you need to do is
just to find effective solutions to those problems.
Doubtless, SX5EP supports BootEasy technology,
increasing the speed of bootstrap to a great extent with the whole
"post” process taking only 4-5 seconds and saving the
patience of the users waiting too long for the bootstrap process.
SX5EP is a standard ATX specification mainboard, supporting FSB
133/100/66 MHz, with the maximal memory reaching 512 MB. It is
fitted with 6 PCI slots and 1 CNR slot, supporting AC' 97. It
also has 4 USB ports, which provide the high-end customers with
an operating platform nearing perfection.
There is a series of products in the SX5EP family.
SX5EP-A is developed from SX5EP plus AC'97 sound effects while
SX5EP-L is equipped with INTEL 10/100 network chip with its 82559
core already built in the south bridge. SX5EPI is a sister product
of SX5EP. It has an ISA slot set in, which gives the user another
choice.
