Q1. What's the new features of LegenX
I Pentium II 440LX mainboard vs. Commander III Pentium
II 440FX mainboard?
New Features of LegenX I:
a) Supports AGP 66/133 MHz (and 266 MHz in the future)
AGP 3D graphics card.
b) Supports LDCM (LANDesk Client Manager) network management.
c) Supports DMI (Desktop Management Interface).
d) Supports 3.3v unbuffered SDRAM and EDO memory.
e) Supports UltraDMA/33 bus-master IDE.
f) Supports ACPI. etc..
Q2. Is it possible for LegenX I to support network
wake-up?
Yes. LegenX I is designed to support 3 network wake-up
spec.from IBM, AMD and Intel by using three headers,
i.e. JL1, JL2 and JL3.
1) Intel network card that supports LAN wake-up JL3:
2-3 Closed.
2) AMD network card that supports LAN wake-up JL2 connect
to the network card of 3-pin connector.
Note: Please check the direction of the connector before
connection JL2, pin3 is GND.
3) IBM network card supports LAN wake-up JL2: 2-3 connect
to the network card of
2-pin connector AND JL1 connect to the
network card 6-pin connector.
Note: Please check the direction of the
two connectors JL1 pin1 and pin4 is
'5v standby'.
Finally, we still need to test those network cards
before announcing its supporting LAN wake-up.
Q3. What are the highlight features of LegenX
III?
LegenX III includes all QDI innovative technology:
- SpeedEasy -- Auto-detects the CPU model used.
- PowerEasy -- Switching regulators provides core
voltage from 1.8V to 3.5V, and automatic voltage detection.
- LogoEasy -- Put your company logo or favorite image
(640 X 480 - 256 color bitmap graphics) onto the computer
screen during system boot-up.
- AGP and sound on board, which uses ATI 3D Rage
III AGP graphics controller and Crystal CS4237B audio
chipset.
- Support TV out, display your 3D video on TV.
- ACPI ready (modem ring power on, soft-off).
- USB.
Q4. Can I disable the on-board ATI and Sound of
LegenX III?
Sure, you can do this by setting JP20 1-2 close, JP21
2-3 close. But it is recommended to keep these devices
so as to protect your investment. In fact, the on-board
AGP and sound have good performance based on our testing
results.
Q5. Why do PCI cards with included BIOS don't
work on the LegenX III M/B?
Since there were more than 32KB onboard VGA BIOS data
which have been implemented within the system BIOS,
address conflict might occur between the system BIOS
and the PCI card. In result you might need to adjust
the PCI card address accordingly.
Q6. Does LegenX III audio have wavetable?
Yes, we integrated software wavetable, which Supports
Wave Stream General MIDI compatible music synthesizer
(Software music synthesizer) in Windows 95/98 environment.
Please refer to the user manual for more information.
Q7. Why does LegenX III only have 2 ISA slots?
Since it's already built with the sound on board, and
considering the limited system resource (i.e. IRQ),
which in result we declined the number of ISA slot.
Q8. Is there any compatibility problems found?
There might be a compatibility problem between our LegenX
III M/B and the Seagate ST31277A HDD. According to the
our testing report, the Seagate HDD has voltage compatible
problems with Intel PIIX4 chipset, even if we lift the
PIIX4 voltage above the 3.3V standard.
Q9. What are the highlight features of LegenX
IV?
LegenX IV includes QDI innovative technology:
- ThermoEasy -- Protects CPU from overheating.
- PowerEasy -- Switching regulators provideing core
voltage from 1.8V to 3.5V, and automatic voltage detection.
- LogoEasy -- Put your company logo or favorite image
(640 X 480 - 256 color bitmap graphics) onto the computer
screen during each system boot-up.
- Supports LDCM with LM78, 75 monitors fan speed,
power supply voltage, temperature and chassis intrusion.
- On-board SCSI with AIC 7880 chip and RAID port.
- On-board 10/100Mbps LAN controller with Intel 82557
MAC, NS83840PHY.
Q10. Does LegenX IV support dual CPU?
Yes, LegenX IV does support Dual Intel Pentium II Processors
with BUS speed 66.6 MHz, multiplier up to 5.5. power
current up to 2x 15A.
While booting up, you will find the
"2 processor(s) detected" message displayed
on the screen.
Q11. Can I use only one CPU with
LegenX IV?
Certainly, but a "GTL Term Card" must be inserted
on the empty CPU slot. The term card should be available
with the original package of the LegenX IV M/B.
Q12. Does LegenX IV support SpeedEasy?
No, it doesn't. Since it only uses 66.6MHz bus
speed, but the BIOS is SpeedEasy ready, which we can
upgrade easily by flashing if necessary. At this moment,
please set the frequency multiplier for CPU clock by
jumpers JP2, 3, 4, 5, accordingly.
Q13. What are the Jumper functions
of LegenX IV (excluding the manual described)?
JP17: Reserved for SMI (To be cancelled)
JP27: Reserved for testing (To be cancelled)
JP28: Reserved for testing (To be cancelled)
JP36: WOL
JP37: WOL
JP38: WOL (To be cancelled)
Q14. How do I set the terminator
when I install SCSI hard disks on LegenX IV?
After reading our manual, you will find the only
thing you should do is to close 2-3 pin of JP34, since
our MB are able to detect the SCSI devices you connected,
and set the onboard terminator power down(disabled)
or power up(enabled) automatically. Nevertheless, note
that the terminator, which belongs to the HDD on the
end of the SCSI cable, should be set as enabled, the
others needn't be, if more than one SCSI HDD connect.
Q15. Is there any compatibility
problems found in LegenX IV?
a. MGA VGA card can only be put on PCI 1 slot.
b. With AOpen Sound card, system halts sometimes.
Q16. Does the LX mainboard support
ATA66 Hard Disk?
No, because the LX chipset can't support ATA66 Hard
Disk.
Although our LX mainboard can recoginise the ATA66 hard
disk, but it will work as ATA33 hard disk.
Q17. If the LegenX 6 and LegenX
7 mainboards can't recoginise my USB device, What can
I do?
Because the pin defination of the USB connector on your
LegenX 6 or LegenX 7 mainboard may different from the
pin defination of your USB device. So, you have to make
your own connector for them.
